This program has been optimized for the needs of small children and beginner music students whatever age. It utilizes a large 72 point music font size, which makes it very easy to read and less intimidating for learning music. As such, this program has been designed to take full advantage of the larger 640 by 480 Screen Size. (13-14 inch.) It is recommended that users have at least a (640 * 480) Screen Size. Users with smaller screens can still use the program however, they will have to use the Scroll Bars.
The Big Note Music Speller v2.0 has many custom features. It includes a large three dimensional computer simulated piano that really plays. Switch between different instrument sounds or record your own. Version 1.2 and up includes the option to record your own instrumental sounds with the Macintosh microphone. Sample your own voice, the dog's bark or the cat's meow for you own custom playback sounds. This program is also fully compatible with a Midi Keyboard. Students using a midi keyboard will be able to see the played notes hilited on both the Screen Piano and Musical Staff! Click on any note on the grand staff and see it played on the piano.
*Version 2.0 hides the desktop from their students (Kid Proof). This will also help students to concentrate better on the notes and make it easier for small children to play!
This program is fully self teaching, learn by your mistakes. If you play a wrong note or need help, The Talking Teacher will tell you what you played wrong and what you need to play. Learning music has never been so easy! As with all ECR programs, users can program their own spoken dialog. To use the talking feature, you will need Apple's "Speech Manager" or "MacinTalk 1.5". If speech manager is not available on your machine, the program will default to MacinTalk 1.5. An all new version of Speech Manger comes with System 7.5 or At-Ease 2.0. MacinTalk 1.5 can be downloaded on-line in the BaseLine Forum under more files.
This program will accommodate ages 4 and up. Users will have complete control over the note range and type. Beginner students can limit the range to as little as two white notes (diatonic) or can expand it to a full blown 5 octaves (chromatic) Teacher's will also appreciated the detailed grade keeping system. Each time a student starts a new session or quits, the records are automatically saved. Print the report and save it as a legitimate grade document! Version 1.2 also includes the ability to import and export grade reports. These grades reports are interchangeable with other ECR teaching programs. The Teacher's Pass Code for this program is the word ``apple.'' You must save it to edit the Grade Reports!
This On-line version is a working demo with some features disabled. Only registered users will be able to access the Midi feature and use the full keyboard range.
